Title: 64 pitch gears Post by: Russ on April 08, 2008, 02:26:12 PM What do ya'll suggest for gearing for my F1. I think I am going to order some 64 pitch gears to go on my Atomic diff. I would like to get 1 spur gear and 2 different pinions to try instead of the whole set. What should I get? Also my spur gear on my Atomic now has a ball bearing in the middle. Will it fit the new gear or do I need to order one with it?

I would go with the 53 or 54 tooth ones. I was going to use the 54 on mine when I convert, probably tonight. Title: Re: 64 pitch gears Post by: Russ on April 08, 2008, 03:41:37 PM What pinion with that?

Title: Re: 64 pitch gears Post by: Russ on April 08, 2008, 03:52:45 PM So do you think I should get the whole kit to start or just the seperate parts?
Title: Re: 64 pitch gears Post by: briankstan on April 08, 2008, 04:27:19 PM it's up to you. if you got the kit you could use the 53 on the 02 diff, with a 12 pinion. that's what I'm running.
the kit does only come with 1 bearing though. almost forgot about that. Title: Re: 64 pitch gears Post by: briankstan on April 09, 2008, 09:59:16 AM I converted my F1 diff last night. I used the 54 spur with the 12 pinion. I like this setup.
For the swap you need to change the plates to the MR-02 plates as the stock Kyosho ones are to large a diameter. for the F1 diff no sanding was required. also you install the spur backwards moving the gear side closer to the mount. this allows you to push the pinion all the way on the motor and still have the pinion and spur line up. it might be different with your Atomic diff ?? I also fixed the tweek so now I have very consisitant steering for left and right. 8) I went to some 1 degree Knuckles, and some stiffer front springs. |
