Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: briankstan on February 12, 2008, 01:01:10 PM it's fabricated out of aluminum angle. the servo is mounted to it using shoe goo. it works really well. I'll find a pic and post it for you.
you can kinda see it in this picture (http://www.saltlakemini-z.com/sitebuilder/images/Brians_Mini_Giant_6-600x450.jpg) Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Nic-z on February 12, 2008, 01:26:34 PM nice where can I get the alm? and did you use the oem tie rods?
Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Nic-z on February 12, 2008, 01:27:52 PM oh and link those red servo savers you guys have pls ;)
Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: briankstan on February 12, 2008, 01:33:50 PM Luke would have to fill you on what was use. Russ would also have a better understanding as he just did his.
I just purchased the servo savers from West Valley Hobbies. Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Russ on February 12, 2008, 04:27:41 PM I have some of the aluminum angle I used if you would like some, you can come over and get it. I beleive I got it at Home Depot and its 1/2 x 1/2 inch. As for what I did just have a look at my Mini Monster gallery. The servo saver is a Kimbrough 131. Its the only red one so should be easy to find. I used a Hitec HS-81MG that I bought at WVH. Also pick up some 3mm 4/40 threaded rod, some ball ends, and 3mm nuts. I used some old Traxxas ball ends I had laying around. Its pretty easy to do if you have a vise, hack saw, dremel, drill and bits, and other various tools. If you need some help I would be happy to.

Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Nic-z on February 12, 2008, 11:49:32 PM Okay so I have some pictures posted in my gallery. finally. Not everything is there but soon I'll have everything up. I will have to look at yours Russ and see what exactly is involved I don't know much about the venom to just go off what I know so far.
Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Nic-z on February 13, 2008, 08:00:34 AM Russ, saw the pics on your mini giant, I understand now what you mean, I forgot to post the servos I had, but will this work for the tie rods? maybe you can just buy everything I need and I'll buy your kennon order and we'll see what the diff is.
TGR 401500 Steering Set with Servo Saver - AtomicMods.com (http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/TGR-401500-Steering-Set-with-Servo-Saver__14112.aspx) Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Russ on February 13, 2008, 08:10:37 AM I dont know if that thing will work for sure. I think its for the TGR Sinister pan car. You might be able to adapt it but without specs of how long it is and what not I would probably suggest doing it the easy way. All of the items you need are available at West Valley Hobbies in Taylorsville off 54th and Redwood. If you have a small servo that will work thats fine but if not the HS-81MG works great. If you need some help making it I can help. As for the Kenon order I'm trying to wait til I hopefully get my F1 so I can see what I need for that.

Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Russ on February 13, 2008, 09:09:22 AM If its too far out of your way let me know and I can probably pick up what you need. Or if you get it yourself you could swing by my house and pick up the rest. I'm usually home after 5:00. WVH is open till 8:00pm.
Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Nic-z on February 13, 2008, 09:37:10 AM yeah its not on the way on my commute. but I did find that apexhobby.com in lehi has the same format online shop as wvh so I am thinking they are the same shop, and thats really close on my commute I could give that a try.
Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Russ on February 13, 2008, 09:48:34 AM Those online shops are really quite a generic. They seem to be the same but with different names. I wouldnt trust that. But calling and going in is good.
Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Nic-z on February 13, 2008, 10:24:51 AM Approximate Prices: HS-81MG $22 Rod $3 Ball Ends $4 (Traxxas 2742X) Screws $Free I have some Nuts $Free I have some Angle AL. $Free I have some Kimb. 131 $4 Tight Turns $Priceless Also I would call and just check to make sure they have everything. 964-1700. okay WV has everything but the threaded rod. I will call others to check. so far total for parts..30 bucks plus tax, a a 3 dollar rod. Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Nic-z on February 13, 2008, 11:36:23 AM Okay called around, do you mean for me to get the 3mm or 4/40 rod? WV has 4/40 but no one has the 3mm that I've seen yet. also wv is the cheapest for parts so far. I might just paypal you the money minus what you owe me if thats okay.
Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Nic-z on February 13, 2008, 11:46:49 AM nm I found hobbytown near my house has everything but no 3mm just 4/40 and the servo is just 17 bucks! ;D
Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Russ on February 13, 2008, 01:19:21 PM Yes its 4/40 threaded rod. I beleive the 3mm nuts go on that. Make sure the servo is the MG (metal gear) version. The non MG would be cheaper but might strip the gears.
Title: Re: got my venom today Post by: Nic-z on February 13, 2008, 01:27:33 PM yes its a MG 16 bucks for it too! and only 1 dollar for the rod, this place is sweet lol.
