Title: Got my Steering mod complete except for....
Post by: Nic-z on February 25, 2008, 11:58:13 PM
Pictures to come soon....But question I finished my steering mod, thanks everyone for the help. I didn the alm angle and jbweld and zip ties.....yeah I ddin't want any movement lol.  So thats all fine, then I put in the battery (six cell) and that powered up great.  Then it was time to test drive it. I managed to bowl over my yorkies and they ran like heck trying to get away (thx to the upgraded motor they didn't stand a chance) took it on the carpet did some wheelies some endo's etc.  But then I noticed my right steer tuns tighter than my left.  I saw the pictures in Russ gallery and can see he put the screw in the far right side of the servo saver...fine. but when I moved mine from there to the center it seemed to have better proportional steering left to right.  As afar as tightness went. Again I will get pictures posted. I fixed the problem...I think it still seems one turns a little tighter than the other, but hey I am just thrilled that sinkin thing works...well that and I epoxy'd the pinion on the motor,,, its not going anywhere.

I think mine might turn a little tighter on direction also. Not much though and definately tighter both ways than it used to be. You could check your end point adjustments on your radio. And also make sure you center your servo before you put the servo saver on it. Make sure that your steering trim is centered on the radio before powering up the servo and mounting the saver. Then after powering up the servo put the saver on centered. The mounting hole you choose on the servo saver shouldnt matter as long as it travels far enough in each direction.

I don't think I have a good enough radio for dual rate I will have to check.

Use you Helios for the VMG it should work I think. Maybe not. If not I would bet that you could use one of your other 27MHZ AM radios that does have it.
