Ted,

Glad you found us. Yes you definitely can come out and race little cars with us. I myself have lots of Xmod stuff and while we don't actually have any guys racing them with us currently they can be really fun. We do have a couple loaner Mini-Z's that you can try also.

We usually race every other week. Just PM me for the address (Brian's house) and I can get you directions.

P.S. Arch2b is still around but mostly he posts on MZR.

Hello racers,
I moved here a couple years ago from CO and am wanting to get back into little cars! I started with Gen 1 Xmods and spent most my time modding and hacking them rather than actually racing. You may have known my from the forums ran by Performance Xmods (I was a mod there just before it shut down) or as Creative_SN at Atomic mod's forums. I was also a member of Greyscale Racing (not sure how much their reputation is still around) and ran my own (very) small shop (FreestyleXmods.com - check it out for some pics). I haven't done much anything with 24th scale since 2007, but I worked in an RC hobby shop through undergrad and got into heli's there (I still suck at flying).

Anyway, my 24th scale garage is currently a bunch of gen 1 Xmods and an iWaiver (01 I think). Any chance there's opportunity to race those old things with you? I'd love to get back into it.
Looking forward to meeting you all and getting back to a track!
- Ted

P.S. Looking through the members I recognize Arch2b from back in the day. You still around?

A couple pics of my stuff to brighten this post up:

I'm placing an order for both PN Racing and Kyosho,   If you need anything specific let me know today or tomorrow so I can get it on the order,   this will probably me my last order before we leave for Wyoming so let me know ASAP.

Thanks.

No Racing on January 8th.   My house is too torn apart and I need access to the downstairs kitchen.  See you all on the 22nd for HFAY.

Sent my request for donations to Tower today. Anybody else you can think of that we should check with for donations and prizes?

As a frugal (that means cheap) racer my vote is to keep all motors at the 70 turn we already all have rather than buy all new motors for the Racer, F1, and Nascar classes. This would keep the cost down and hassle of keeping track of motor numbers.

Other benefits would include:
  • Laying out lots of advanced money for the motors
  • Less time to get set up for racing and having to acclimate to the speed of the cars with the faster motors.
  • No extra soldering
  • Less chance of blowing up a board due to incorrect soldering
  • No new motor break in time.
  • Less chance to buy replacement motors because you got a bad one

I really dont think anybody would cheat with motors. For many racers extra speed is not an advantage.

If I was the race director I would have these classes:

Novice (kids)
Box Stock + set gearing, bearings, tires, and wheel nuts.
Racer 70 turn stock motor, open mods
F1 70 turn stock motor, open mods
Nascar 70 turn stock motor
Pan Car - Lexan body only - Open motor and mods
Offroad Buggy - 50 turn motor??, open mods.

That's just my opinion. I'm up for anything though and just looking forward to going once again.

Wondering what gears everyone is replacing in the MR- 03 steering servo with the metal ones and where to get them?

I haven't had to replace any of mine.   One of our guys keep stripping the gear and replaced it with the PN gear and hasn't had any issues since.

its part number MR3056M from PN racing and runs $6.88
