Man I'm a SPAZ!!

« Topic Start: February 06, 2008, 08:40:06 AM »

Killer!! I must say that it was difficult to find any information or review, or even photos of these shocks. Even the ebay seller was non responsive. But at the suggestion of Luke (thanks Luke) I went ahead and popped for these shocks. I got a chance to install them last night and I must say they are really good for the money. They came filled with oil so I didnt even open them up (it was hard to resist). The install was simple. Just pull off one wheel at a time and unscrew the top stock shock mount and pop the bottom one off leaving the bottom shock ball/screw in place. Pop on the Trinity shock to the bottom ball/screw mount. Then thread the included scews through the included small plastic washers, through the shock and through the included standoff/mount. Screw it into the hole you pulled the stock shock from. Put the wheel back on and move on to the next one.
Simple!! Took about 15 min.

I must say that the truck feels way different. It has actual dampening and a nice side to side roll feel. I think it might have lowered the truck 1-2mm but not really noticeable. The really cool thing is the Venom spring pack I bought will fit these shocks, although I stayed with the included springs for now.

I cant wait to give them a try in the monster truck race.
P.S. Heres the link to the seller on Ebay. They are non responsive to emails but for $13.10 you cant beat this deal.

Actually Nic I think those are GPM shocks. I could be wrong though. I heard they were good. I think Luke has those on his MG.

You dont need new shocks I think the ones you have are better. I would ask Luke though. But either way I'm sure thier fine.

Just from my experience both the gpm and the trinity clash shocks work very well, but both need some attention.

If you run the gpm's , the teflon seal at the bottom of the shock tands to get worn quickly, and this causes the oil to leak, and the shock-shaftsto stick
fix:  drain the oil and remove the shockshaft. then lightly remove a small bit of the teflon seal with an x-acto, replace the shaft, then coat the inside of the shock with thick grease with a q-tip.( use just enough to coat the sides, do not fill the shock with grease, or it will bind

the trinity clash shocks also seem to do better with the grease than the oil,,  the bottom seals on these are not great, and toe oil leakes out rather quickly

   Hope this helps

I received my shocks over the weekend,  it looks like the quality is good,  however I can't mount them.  it seems that I don't have all the mounting hardware, that or the way the mount is different on the Trinity Clash then it is on the Venom Mini Giant.  My existing shocks have ball screws on both the top and the bottom.  they new shocks don't.

anyone else have a problem like this?  any solutions?

Mine stock shocks had ball screws on both top and bottom. My first post explains how I mounted mine. The new shocks should have come with 4 screws about 1/2 long. 4 plastic washers, and 4 plastic inserts, as well as some preload spacers. Unsrew just the top stock shock mount with it still popped in on the stock shock, then pop the bottom mount off the stock shock while leaving the stock ball scew in the truck. Pop the Clash shock onto the ball stud at the bottom and use the supplied hardware to mount the top. Its really quite simple.

The top mount goes like this:

Screw/plastic washer/shock cap/plastic insert/truck chassis
