Ok, I think if I understand correctly, is that it allows you to be able to run mod motors without frying the board etc, and allows more power in general. But I see some people stacking 5 to 6 of them high. Is this really needed? I could be wrong, but seems like overkill to me. What is the norm 2x2 or 2x3, etc. Is it necessary to do this and what have you all done on your boards?

Rob,  don't worry about stacking the FET's.  It's not needed for any of the motors we run here.   Maybe if you were building a modified pan car on an AM chassis, but other than that, just stick with a stock board.  Any of the new cars come with the 3010 fets, but if your board does have teh 3004 fets,  you may want to upgrade to the 3010's.
